Trail of 100 Giants
By Jason Gutierrez

Giants are usually thought of as mythical creatures found only in childhood fairytales. Well, think again. The Sequoia National Forest, located less than 100 miles from Bakersfield, is home to the Trail of 100 Giants. This national monument inside the forest is an easy and fun walk through Long Meadow Grove. Some of these magnificent trees are estimated to be up to 1,500 years old. Located on the Western Divide Highway (Highway 107), facilities include a paved parking area, restrooms, picnic area and campground nearby. A $5 vehicle fee is charged to help maintain and improve these facilities.
